Dr. Elizabeth Broel
Veterinarian

Dr. Elizabeth Broel


Dr. Elizabeth Broel is a 2005 cum laude graduate of Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.


She initially practiced both large and small animal medicine at a rural mixed animal practice outside of Jacksonville, FL. In 2007, she began practicing emergency and critical care medicine in Charlotte, NC, where she met and worked closely with Dr. Meyers for three years. In 2012 Dr. Broel graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with her Master of Science in Public Health.

During her studies at UNC Charlotte, Dr. Broel completed a summer internship in Nairobi, Kenya, working with high risk HIV positive populations. In addition to practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Broel spent a year working at Levine Cancer Institute as a human pediatric oncology research coordinator following completion of her MSPH degree. In 2014 she became board certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. Dr. Broel’s professional interests include epidemiology, infectious diseases, veterinary public health, global public health, the One Health initiative, and emergency and critical care medicine. Dr. Broel serves as a guest lecturer on infectious diseases and public health at UNC Charlotte, and in May, 2012 she served as a rabies expert for the nationally syndicated television news show “America Now”.

Dr. Broel lives in Mint Hill with her husband, son, dog, cat, and horse. In her spare time she enjoys college football (War Eagle!), running, yoga, hiking, horseback riding, and traveling.
