Dr. McShane, originally from right outside of New York City, decided to make North Carolina her home after doing her clinical rotation year at NC State in Raleigh. Dr. McShane has always been an animal lover but never considered becoming a veterinarian until she took a part-time job as a receptionist in a local animal hospital in NY. At the time, she was already in her junior year of college and preparing for law school. She fell in love with veterinary medicine and decided to chase her dream with the help of her first boss and mentor.
After graduating with a B.A in Business and Communications, Dr McShane went back to school to complete all her science prerequisite classes and started veterinary school a year later.
Since graduating, Dr. McShane has worked in small animal practice and her professional interests include internal medicine, rehabilitation, senior pets, dentistry and dermatology. She has even traveled to Belize to do volunteer veterinary work . She is Fear Free certified and strives to make your pets’ visit as enjoyable and stress free as possible.
Dr McShane enjoys her time off with her husband, Lee, and their three rescue dogs Bobby Junior, Larsson and Cliffy. Her personal interests include exercise, reading and traveling.
