This hospital has a fully equipped surgical suite. Your pet is monitored by experienced support staff and state of the art monitoring equipment. Your pet is wrapped in a circulating water blanket and/or a Baer hugger during and after the anesthesia to help maintain body temperature.
Each surgeon performs the surgery under standard sterile technique and utilizes an anesthetic protocol that was developed by leading veterinary anesthesiologists. Our patients are given intraoperative pain medication and discharged with medication to minimize any post surgery discomfort.
The safety and comfort of your pet is our utmost concern.
Working with the CVSS surgeons we can provide many services ranging from cruciate ligament repair (TTA, lateral suture), limb amputation, fracture repair, patellar luxation stabilization, to femoral head osteotomy.
At Carolina Pets we work closely with the Charlotte Veterinary Surgical Services to provide the highest quality advanced orthopedic surgery. The surgery will be performed on-site at Carolina Pets Animal Hospital.
Cryotherapy is a safe and cost-effective way to get rid of small masses. Our portable, hand-held cryosurgical device offers unparalleled freezing power combined with total accuracy so the veterinarian can pinpoint only the tissue she wants to treat.
Cryotherapy does not require anesthesia which is very important for elderly dogs and cats, as rabbits, ferrets, and other small mammals. By freezing the tissue, the mass shrinks and/or falls off over the course of 5-21 days. Depending on the size of the lesion, a second treatment is sometimes needed.
We understand that anesthesia carries some measure of risk and we know it’s tough to think about your loved one under anesthesia. But before you panic, let us know your concerns. We know each of our patients is unique.
An anesthesia protocol is tailored for each pet taking into account age, health, personality, breed and the results of screening pre-surgical lab work. We offer the latest in veterinary gas anesthesia, sevoflurane. This is the anesthetic of choice for human surgeries, especially children. All patients undergoing anesthesia are monitored with our SurgiVet Advisor that continuously monitors and records your pet’s blood oxygenation, pulse, blood pressure, and heart electrical activity (ECG) throughout the entire time your pet is under anesthesia. We have a dedicated anesthesia technician whose sole purpose is to monitor your pet’s anesthesia depth and experience.
We place the utmost importance on your pets well being and managing their pain is one of our highest priorities.
It has been shown that pain impairs healing both from surgical procedures and injuries. At Carolina Pets we have many strategies for controlling your pets pain including:
Risks and benefits of each method will be discussed with you wether it be for your pet’s surgical procedure or management of chronic pain from arthritis, injury or neuropathy.
